Prior to the advent of Scheyden Precision Eyewear, West Coast Trends, Inc. (WCT) was founded in 1990 by avid surfer and golfer: Jeffrey Herold. Scissors in hand, Jeff decided to cut up his wetsuit, and develop a line of premium neoprene golf club head covers, which he named Club Glove. The Club Glove putter covers quickly became popular with golfers at every level.

This led to the development of the Club Glove "Last Travel Bag." The Last Bag is currently used by over 90% of the professional golfers on all U.S. Tours, and has been used by every US Ryder Cup Team since 1997.

The Club Glove product line now includes a complete line of travel luggage, golf bags, head covers and more.

With the growth of the business, Jeff felt it would be advantageous, as well as exciting, to fly himself to business meetings. Flying lessons began in early 1998. As he continued his training, he realized his existing eyewear was not functional in the cockpit environment. After searching for a quality flip-up sunglass, Jeff realized he would have to take on this project himself. In 1999, the first pair of Scheyden Sunglasses was introduced. From that point on Scheyden Eyewear has become popular in a variety of activities such as driving, fishing, golf, boating, and photography.
